Operation Homespun:
Traditional Knitting Patterns of Newfoundland & Labrador

In 1980 Miss Anna Templeton, along with many other dedicated individuals, assembled a wonderful collection of knitting patterns. These patterns were printed in a booklet titled “Operation Homepun”.

The Anna Templeton Centre for Craft, Art & Design felt it was an excellent time to reprint these patterns; trigger mitts, the knitted guernsey, homespun socks and many more timeless products.  This is an historical document which honours Miss Templeton’s memory and work!

Lets give to the new generation their rich past.

Studio and Gallery Rental

The Anna Templeton Centre has a variety of multipurpose and specific-use studios and galleries.  We offer spaces for meetings, exhibitions, tours  and artist work spaces for short periods (day use). With advance notice we can accommodate both large and small crowds.

Birthday Parties

Creative parties with craft and art themes

Looking for a fun and educational party alternative? The Anna Templeton Centre offers creative birthday parties using craft and art techniques to create art in a fun and interactive way. Each party is planned with the child’s age and size of group in mind. Choose from a variety of activities;

ART & CRAFT options:

• Tie Dyed Bandannas – a quick and easy dye process which allows the artist to create exciting and colourful patterns on a cotton bandanna (8 years +)

• Jewellery – learn to make beaded jewellery with your choice of colours and beads; necklace, bracelet and earrings, if time permits (best for kids 9 +)

**additional materials cost

• Needle felting – a simple process using a needle-type instrument to push wool fibers together, thereby felting them. You can create fuzzy toys, or add to existing knitted fabric, embellishing a clutch bag with your very own design! (best for kids 9 +)

• Fabric collage – using different fabrics create your very own  picture. Make a sign for your bedroom door, a patch, portrait or dreamscape…your imagination is the limit (7 years +)

• Fabric embellishment – Liven up a pre-made shoulder/book bag with bright yarns, fabrics and beads. Hand sewing and iron-on adhesive are an easy way to show your design sense and make a one of a kind piece! (7 years +)

• Drawing and painting – great for younger kids (4-6 years). Play and experiment with coloured pencils, crayons and paints to create individual works and work together to complete a large mural for the birthday friend to take home!

$175 (fee for up to 12 guests, includes HST, instructor fee, materials and 2 hour space rental)

• We can accommodate more guests, price will reflect quantity

• Parents must be present for duration of party

• All parties must be booked in advance and scheduled to fit around planned activities at the Centre.

• Refreshments are not provided by the Anna Templeton Centre, they are the responsibility of the individual booking the party, as is the serving and clean-up.
